Creative Committee Member & Volunteer of the Year, 2024

At The Alexander House Recovery, we believe in celebrating those who go above and beyond to embody our mission and values. This year, we’re thrilled to honor Ashley Chancey as our first Honorary Volunteer of the Year and welcome her to our Creative Committee.

ashley Chancey

Ashley is not only a dedicated volunteer, but a testament to strength in recovery. With a spouse alongside her in recovery, Ashley proudly celebrates 8 years of sobriety; her personal connection to our mission runs deep. In her words…

“The Gift, gifted me”

Ashley’s journey into our community began as a tribute to her late father - a man who nurtured her passion for photography from a young age. In his memory, she generously gifted the Alexander House a photography session at our first silent auction in December 2023. The winning bidder happened to be our very own, Jody Schwenkel, who used the session to capture Alexander’s daughter, Zoey’s fourth birthday. This act of love has since blossomed into a shared mission to create tangible memories that inspire hope and awareness for recovery.

A vision for creativity and advocacy

As a talented photographer with a professional background in event documentation, Ashley’s vision is to align her passion with our purpose. Her artistry has not only captured the heart of our events but has also amplified our outreach efforts through marketing and advertising.

Ashley’s work has been spotlighted by CISD schools for her dedication to capturing local athletic events and used by community organizations like Conroe Tigers Football and Conroe Area Youth Baseball. Her volunteerism extends far beyond photography, from charity shoots for families in need to providing young athletes with professional-quality coverage—always without expectation of compensation.

“Women are powerful, relentless, and a force in any field.”

Ashley’s achievements extend beyond her creative contributions. She balances her role as a mother of four boys with a physically demanding job in the male-dominated oil and gas industry. Her story is one of breaking barriers, blazing trails, and showing that women can be a force in any field.

WORDS TO LIVE BY

"Live with purpose,

Steward with faith,

and let love be the legacy you leave behind."

We are endlessly grateful for Ashley’s tireless dedication to The Alexander House Recovery. Her involvement - always offered with open hands and a full heart - continues to inspire everyone around her.

Please join us in celebrating Ashley Chancey for her invaluable contributions and unwavering support of our mission!
